Version 1.0 — effective 14 Aug 2026 Campfire Chat is operated by Tidewater Consulting Group of Virginia LLC, 1820 Templeton Lane, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. Questions, reports, and problems: admin@campfirechat.io.

This is the agreement between you and us. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past. If anything here is unclear, email us and ask.

The short version

1. Who can use Campfire Chat

2. Your license

We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use Campfire Chat for your organization's communication. That's it — you don't get to resell it, rent it out, or build another product on top of it. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the service, and we'll give reasonable notice when we can.

3. Community Standards

These apply to everything you write, upload, or name — messages, photos, photo names, and display names.

Never allowed:

Also expected of you:

Enforcement. We may remove content and suspend or permanently terminate accounts for violating these standards, with or without notice, and without refund. We do not require a pattern of behavior — a single serious violation is enough.

4. Reporting and blocking

Two things are always available to every member, including youth, at the lowest permission level and with no adult approval in the loop.

🚩 Report. Every message and every photo has a report option. Say what's wrong and send it. The report goes to your troop's administrators, who are expected to review it promptly. Reports are kept permanently, along with a snapshot of the reported content, so a record survives even if the content is deleted.

🚫 Block. You can block any member from the member list or from a message. Their messages, photos, and reactions stop appearing for you, and they stop generating notifications for you. Nobody is exempt — administrators and leaders can be blocked like anyone else. Blocking is private: the blocked member is never told, and you never have to give a reason. Unblock any time from Settings.

If a youth blocks or reports, their parent or guardian can see that they did. The youth is told this up front, in the dialog, before they act. A parent can see the list; a parent cannot undo a block, because a safety decision a child made shouldn't be something they can be talked out of.

An automatic word filter checks chat messages on our servers before they are saved, both when they're sent and when they're edited, and refuses the ones that don't pass. It applies to everyone — administrators, leaders, and youth equally. Your organization can add words to it. Nobody, including your own administrators, can turn the platform's list off. It catches words, not intent, so reporting and blocking matter more than the filter does.

Escalation to us. If your troop's administrators don't act, or if the problem is an administrator, email admin@campfirechat.io directly. We review reports sent to that address within 24 hours and act on them ourselves — removing content, suspending accounts, and removing members from the platform where warranted. You do not need your organization's permission to contact us.

5. Don't attack the service

Campfire Chat runs on shared infrastructure that other organizations depend on. Treat it that way. You may not:

We may throttle, suspend, or terminate any account doing these things, and we will report criminal conduct to the appropriate authorities.

6. Found a security or performance problem?

Email admin@campfirechat.io. We take reports seriously and we'd much rather hear it from you.

If you're reporting in good faith, we won't pursue action against you — provided you: report it promptly and privately; don't access, modify, or keep anyone else's data (especially any minor's); don't degrade the service or run destructive or load-generating tests; and give us reasonable time to fix it before telling anyone else. Testing outside those lines isn't research, and Section 5 applies.

Performance complaints are welcome at the same address. "It's slow" is a useful bug report.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. You give us permission to store, display, and back it up so the service can work, and to retain it as described below.

When you leave, your words stay. Deleting your account erases your identity — your login, contact details, and name — permanently and irreversibly. It does not delete the messages and photos you shared; those remain in the troop's history, relabelled so they're no longer attributed to you. This is deliberate: a group's shared record shouldn't develop holes when one person leaves, and moderation records have to outlive the account. If your name appears inside the text of somebody else's message, we can't remove it.

Adults can delete their own account from Profile. A youth's account is deleted by their parent or guardian, from My Family — not by the youth. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

8. Privacy and adult oversight

The Privacy Policy governs what we collect and why. Three things that belong here too, because they're rules about how the product works rather than about data:

9. Suspension and termination

We can suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms. Your troop's administrators can remove members from the troop. A parent or guardian can suspend or delete their own youth's account at any time. You can stop using the service whenever you like.

10. The legal minimum

Plain versions of the things that have to be said:

11. If you got the app from Apple
